Producing quality beef cattle and premium natural beef products.
Circle L has been producing quality Limousin seedstock for over 30 years. Bob & Phyllis Leatherman purchased the Charles Yost farm in 1981, which was known for raising the Limousin breed. A few of those Limousin animals were purchased as the original Circle L Limousin herd. Much has changed since that first set of cattle and the herd now includes purebred and commercial Angus in addition to Limousin. The farm includes a sale facility that has been used over the years to hold numerous production sales. Circle L has been active in showing cattle over the years and has enjoyed a long show history of champion titles at both the local and national level.
Our beef cattle program is diversified with Limousin cattle leading the way for total beef production. Our Limousin program produces animals for the purebred and commercial breeder with the goal of producing homozygous black, homozygous polled, and Lim-Flex animals. Our philosophy involves taking the information obtained from animal weights, hip heights, ultra sounds, and show results, to drive the focus of the breeding program. Circle L Limousin constantly evolves to produce the best genetics positioned for today's cattle producer. All of our calves are fully weaned and include all vaccinations.
Circle L is also a producer of premium natural beef products marketed as Buckeye Beef sold under the Circle L Ranch logo, and available online and at various store locations. The Circle L natural beef program mainly consists of registered Lim-Flex cattle. Lim-Flex cattle are a breed of their own and represent a mix breed of Limousin and Angus cattle. In order to be a registered Lim-Flex, the animal must be 25-75% Limousin and 25-75% Angus or Red Angus. Cattle raised on the Circle L Farm are antibiotic and hormone free. The cattle are fed 2.5% of their body weight for premium growth along with unlimited hay and forages as well as fresh clean water. When the animal reaches an age of 15 through 23 months of age, they are sent to market.
The farm also includes a sugar house that produces Amish made Ohio maple syrup and bourbon barrel aged maple syrup. Sources for these products come from trees located on the Circle L Farm. The syrup is marketed as Miller’s Sugar Camp and available at various retail locations.
